As the final run of week 14, we ran 16 miles through the streets of Nesconset, we ran past the bagel store, the vet office, and even stopped at the dogpark. We ran the trails leading to and from the dogpark. It was a nice and easy 16 miles. Today it was somewhat overcast, and a little chillier than days before it was a bit humid though. Not a bad day for running hopefully in two weeks it will be as cool, and not humid. I guess we shall see right?!?!?!?.....
We did decide we will be starting at 6am, and in hopes of being halfway through about 8- 8:30am and by 10- 10:30am, we hope to be at Kent Animal Shelter. We will be running east bound along Middle Country Road for most of the course. Coming from Smithtown By Pass going over to Middle Country Road......there are a few turns towards the end of the course. This week Pam and I will go further into our course.
Today, we however came across another new friend. This is yet another furry four legged friend who wanted to get their leash on! Check this out:

Have a tail waggin' day and I'll see you tomorrow,
May 8, 2015- Today we ran a nice easy 4 miles, of course we hit up the bagel store...and the vet office. There were no bagels, but we were able to hydrate ourselves at the vet office! After we left the vet office, we went on over to the dogpark and we met some new friends. No one will ever take my best friends place, that being Skyler, but Skyler taught me that all dogs can be a friend to me as long as I am friendly back. Pam is still learning this with her human counterparts I think! (Personally I think it takes ALL humans a little longer to learn these lessons!) Once we left the vet office we ran the trails that lead to the dogpark (or in this case leave the dogpark) and headed home.
When we got home after our four miles, Sandy and Candycane were outside enjoying the wonderful Spring or Summer like weather we are having in the backyard. Then we went next door and got Benji and took him for a walk. We all walked for 3 miles, heading to the dogpark and back. When we got to the dogpark, we met one new friend, who by the way "Gets his Leash On! with his companion", honestly Pam may have found a fellow human running partner as well. We'll see.......Pam refuses to get her hopes up but has hope!
When we left the dogpark we head back through the trails, and then headed home.
Don't forget about our fundraiser for the shelter that helped me find my furever home!

Have a tail waggin' day and I'll see you tomorrow,
Today Pam and I set out for a 5 mile run......coming closer to our taper weeks.......We have a total of 16 day before the marathon date.....
Today we ran to the bagel store, and then around the back of the stores and around to the vet office. Pam is actually shocked that still try to get into the vet office even after they gave me a shot!
Shortly after that we decided to go straight across the street to the dogpark. Where I got to go off leash legally and safely. To sniff and run and meet new dogs!
Once we left the dogpark, we ran around the gazebo and headed home. Once again it was a short 5 mile run....so it seemed, wait be patient I will tell you more in a second!
Upon running home we came across a sign for an upcoming race on May 17, 2015. This run actually has a deeper meaning to Pam because she personally suffered not a full stroke but several mini strokes the last few years. As far as the testing that they do on any illness, condition, or whatever she may not support the way that doctors in humanely research, or unintelligently do their research. I mean that cat across the street and yourself do not have the same bodily characteristics overall, maybe some things in common but not enough to see a true effect of said testing. But as far as bringing awareness and bringing prevention to STOKES! She must say that she is totally standing behind the cause for this race. Due to my marathon training I will not be racing this race BUT since this race runs right past my house, you can bet I will be out there cheering everyone on. Hey, I may just offer to help set up a water station in front of my house. After you pass my house, about 1/8 way down the road you will be making a left hand turn UP the hill! So this is a heads up that there is a hill (if you look at my driveway, you can get an idea about the hill steepness and almost the length (ok, the hill ahead is a little longer but it will give you a general idea of what is about to come!)
I have to let you see me running, and running from the front view....Pam is happy when she gets to shoot me from the front as opposed to shooting my rear! Honestly, I love to show my face too!
Ok, so there are only a few weeks left to make your donations to our fundraiser....so please keep in mind we do not see a penny of this money, the check automatically goes to Kent Animal Shelter. We like it that way actually! Oh wait, if you buy our book we will be receiving the money and distributing the appropriate share of it to Kent Animal Shelter!
Don't forget about our fundraiser for the shelter that helped me find my furever home!

Have a tail waggin' day and I'll see you tomorrow,
Where to start today.....ok, Pam and I woke up today and headed out for a 8 mile run.....despite the fact that Pam could decide whether of not to wear her rain jacket, or not! She had it on then took it off, overall deciding to run without the jacket. Considering we only had a few drops of rain I think it was a wise decision!
Okay, so we set out on our run for the day.....we came across our friend that likes to truly try to jump over the fence. I keep telling Pam to ask his owners if we can take him out to Get His Leash On!!!! He seriously can use a run with us! (OR maybe it's a she, sorry didn't look close enough!- here is a past video of this dog)......
Ok so we moved on after saying hello to him again.....(I think the people lined up to drive into the school were entertained by us saying hello too!)
Ok, so we ran another what 2 miles and we came across yet another new friend, a what I think Pam called him a Belgium Shepard, you can see him in this next video- maybe he was a she again we didn't look that close. But even Pam got a kiss from this great dog, now Pam really wants to run with this dog- he/she reminded both of us of the late GREAT Skyler...... pictured below.....Just a lot furrier than Skyler as Skyler was true to the German Shepard breed (although definitely a mix breed).....
Ok, after we had our little meet and greet with our NEW friend there, we continued on to check for bagels at my favorite recarbing up place.....Boulevard Bagels......
now, I knew there were bagels in there but Pam said that she couldn't reach them so we moved on.....and we ended up in front of my vets office......and in front of the office there is a garbage pail, and with my hound dog sniffer I smelled something in that garbage pail- it was half a bagel, I tried to get it- watch the video below to have a laugh, Pam laughed! She just wasn't going to stick her hand in that garbage pail, not knowing what else was in there, if you get my drift. Can't say I blame her. We kinda both agree that if there is a garbage pail in front of a vet office you should refrain from throwing food stuffs in there, I mean that is one way of inviting animals to pick from it and have it possibly knocked over!
So we continued on after my attempts to get the bagel were not successful! And Pam promised me she would get me some bagels or cheese or something good! (By the way, she held true to her word, I ended up having three bagels for lunch!)
After we finished our walk, we came home I rested with Sandy and Candycane- as they were running free in the backyard the whole time just being DOGS! While Pam took Benji out for a walk around the block! Benji had his mile walk.
Pam came home had her smoothie and got ready to head out again. This time we got in the car and headed over to see another dog named Buddy. A Golden Retriever, in Northport. When we got to his house, we was excited to see his dogwalker/runner Pam. He wanted all of her attention so I just went to check things out in the yard and smell all the different smells and all while Pam said hello to Buddy. He just wanted to get out and walk with her though! So we all ended up going for a 1.25 mile walk/ run.....
The first video is Buddy saying come on let's get our leash on already, I want to get going! The second video is of us leading the way together and enjoying our walk/ run with Pam in tow!

Have a tail waggin' day and I'll see you tomorrow,
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today Pam and I ran 10 miles. Along our course today we came across several four legged friends, some where in the house, others were in the yard barking at us as we ran by. I keep telling Pam they want to Get Their Leashes On! And Pam tells them to Get their leashes on and come run with us! Pam is seriously thinking about starting to add Dog walking or running to her business. If Pam did this she would really be taking her health up a notch! I can see it now!
Anyway, today marks 19 days left to our marathon......(including the day of the marathon). At this point we really want to get through these next 19 days and get it over with, we put in the time, the miles, now, this is taper week one.....as much as I like taper weeks (we have two in this training program) they are kinda like a tease to the big week! But good news half the week is gone by, and if I get through this week, I can get through the following and then comes the marathon week.
Don't forget about our fundraiser for the shelter that helped me find my furever home!

Have a tail waggin' day and I'll see you tomorrow,
So today we had a second REST day to recover from
our longest training run before our actual marathon! Now that I am well rested, and carbed up, I can run a nice 10 mile run tomorrow to continue on with my training......
I have decided to get Pam to add a few more things into her training......in fact, we will be working on the details tonight so we will talk more about this in tomorrow's blog.......
20 days until the marathon.....did you help us help Kent Animal Shelter yet? There are several ways you can do this......
Don't forget about our fundraiser for the shelter that helped me find my furever home!

Have a tail waggin' day and I'll see you tomorrow,
After our 22 mile run yesterday, Pam and I had our first of two consecutive rest days. We are still walking and stretching and doing Doga with Sandy though.
We did come across a tidbit of information to share with everyone.....we discovered that TODAY is the start of Be Kind to Animals Week!....So my question to you is how will chose to be kind to animals this week.....
There are so many things you can do....from making a homemade treat for your animal companion. To doing a workout together with your companion, in other words GET YOUR LEASH ON!, You can help other save a live or two by making Monday- MEATLESS MONDAY!.....You can purchase our book and help shelter animals at Kent Animal Shelter! And these are just a few things you can do.......maybe getting a new harness, collar, or leash for your dog. Maybe you can sing along with your bird (either their language or ours)......or you can go run a favorite race (or use a favorite running tshirt) and take a photo of your companion and yourself in the shirt......and use the hashtag....#runningdogs......
#runningdogs
So anyway, what will you do to be kind to animals this week, or if your already kind to animals what little extra thing can you do this week!
Don't forget about our fundraiser for the shelter that helped me find my furever home!
